Concorde May Become a London Tourist Attraction - Image via Wikipedia
Concorde may become a London tourist attraction. Talks are under way to display one of the last Concords on the banks of the river Thames.
Currently the chosen airliner is being wasted at Heathrow and a new home on the banks of the river Thames, close to the London Eye, would allow visitors to see it in all its splendour.
A scheme to display the iconic plane would cost in the region of $35.3 million (£22 million pounds). The plane would be positioned on top of a platform and the platform itself would be designed to contain shopping and exhibition facilities, it would also include a river boat landing stage underneath.
If approved the exhibition may also house British historic cars and motorcycles.
The supersonic airliner would be situated opposite Parliament and the project could be completed as early as next year. Funding for the project would be a combination of private and public funds.
It was reported that one of the Captains of Concorde has said that the exhibition “would help to remind people of what we have achieved, and seeing it may inspire someone to do it again.”
