Pakistani Cricketers Suspended by the International Cricket Council
Pakistan cricket fans are upset over the news that three of their cricket idols have been suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC), all three were involved with the match fixing outrage that has brought the game onto its knees. Even before this latest news was released fans had already been showing their anger by burning posters of the Pakistan national cricket team players.
The three cricket players Mohammad Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif have been suspended for their “ irregular behaviour” while playing against England last month.
The ICC chief Executive made it clear in a press statement that the council will not put up with corruption in the sport. He went are to say “The ICC will do everything possible to keep such conduct out of the game and we will stop at nothing to protect the sport’s integrity. While we believe the problem is not widespread, we must always be vigilant.”
The disgraceful incident was first brought to the worlds attention by the popular British Sunday newspaper, News of the World, it showed that Mazhar Majeed had arranged for Amir and Asif to deliver three no balls during the match against England.
The sport betting industry bet money on sporting incidents, the no balls information, would produce large profits for those who knew about the prediction.
The case will now go to court, and in the meantime Pakistan will be without their two bowlers and captain. As the three cricketers will be banned from all activities related to cricket. It is expected that the fans will now have a change of heart and rally round the reminder of the team now that the offenders have been suspended.
