No we are not talking about a human relationship here, although some would disagree. Tiger Woods the worlds No1 golfer has said goodbye to his putter.
At a press conference people all around are thinking about the rumours out in the media that Tiger was going to get divorced. You could cut the atmosphere with a knife there were people whispering about gargantuan sums of money that his wife was going to get paid. However, today there was no talk about divorce, but there was talk about a break up in a relationship that has been going strong since 1999.
He has ditched his Scotty Cameron putter the putter that has helped him win 72 titles, 13 majors and earn $90 million. The Cameron has been replaced by a Nike method putter. The method was in fact used by Stewart Cink in last years open victory and also by Lucas Glover while winning the US open.
Tiger said that he has had difficulty on slower greens and putted well on faster greens. The method putter with its groove technology helps to roll the ball better. The sales on the method could go trough the roof if Tiger plays well said many sports commentators.
It wasn’t long before the d word was mentioned but he didn’t go into that apart from saying he just wants to be a better person. While answering the questions he sat straight faced, but you could see the occasional grin almost a smile. Now don’t forget that Tiger is one quarter Thai and if you know anything about Thai culture, and the Thai smile then you may know that he was not showing his true emotions. When he talked about being a better person you could believe that he truly meant it and one wouldn’t be surprised if he had gone back to his faith, Buddhism.
It is known fact that golfers change their clubs according to weather conditions especially if the wind is high and also for the condition of the greens and the fairways. However, when it comes to changing putters its a big change, but then again maybe that’s what Tiger needs to do, to get back to his top game.
These are challenging times for Tiger Woods the pressure that he must be under is hard to imagine when you consider what he has to prove to himself, his fans, and his family. Lets hope the new love of his life, the method putter, helps him to get his career back on track and then with some help from Buddha other elements of his life will full into place.
